3. Large Water Capacity

The water capacity of any chicken waterer has a lot to do with how often it needs filling. It’s especially important if you travel and occasionally leave your birds unattended. A five-gallon bucket waterer will easily supply 6-8 adult chickens 4-5 days.

If you’re handy, build your own using a 55-gallon drum. Or even better, use a float valve to keep it full all the time.
